Accommodation

Villa Lummelahti offers accommodation in three different hand-built and unique cabins. Cottages were built from local timber according to family custom designs. In all houses, you can relax all year round.

Villa Lummelahti is located on the shore of Lake Saimaa in Savitaipale, a 40-minute drive from Lappeenranta.

The villa is well equipped and spacious. Lake Saimaa and sunset view from the large terrace, beach, private dock, rowing boat and BBQ hut.

Services

Guided mushroom picking tour

Mushroom picking trip to the nearest forest. Learn more about mushrooms, relax, savor the smells of the forest, and pick mushrooms for yourself. Ask about your trip in advance.

Guided cranberries picking tour

Cranberries picking tour to the nearest swamp. Swamps have their own atmosphere and aromas. The cranberry season is from October to December. The duration of the trip is about 2 hours.

Motor for rowing boat rental

Rent a very quiet 5hp Honda 4-stroke engine or the almost silent Torgeedo Travel outboard electric motor of the same power class.

Hot tub rental

Rent a portable outdoor hot tub. Capacity up to 6 people. It takes about 2 hours to heat the water. There is a thermometer, mixing paddle and drink holder in the tub. There is firewood for heating...

Canoe or kayak rental

There are interesting protected kayaking spots nearby. Rent a three-seater canoe or kayak for two. Life jackets and paddles are included.

Rent bikes

You can rent electric fat bikes or normal mountain bikes from Saimaan Palju or Drakkar Sport.

OUR STORY

The little dream has matured little by little. In 1999, I decided to build a traditional log cabin with a sauna for my family on the beautiful sunset sandy beach in Saimaa. I was lucky to have my neighbor Ari as a professional for the construction work. We built in the winter and lunch tasted delicious by the campfire. The children grew up quickly and life changed. It was time to implement the next plan and build a bigger house also from ecological materials.

We built the villa by hand with our friends in just over a year. The villa was completed in 2010. I had gotten to know friends who had cabin rentals for vacationers and I listened to their positive experiences. With their help, I got excited and thought that both houses built with such love could offer pleasure to others who want to enjoy the peace, quiet and beauty of nature and Saimaa.

200 meters from the beach there is one special place for relaxation - a rock on a hill. I had often sat there alone and with friends, enjoying the sounds and scents of the forest and the wonderful view of Saimaa towards the sunset. That place silenced us all. In 2020, it was time to implement the next plan and build a cabin on this one of the world's oldest rocks (Did you know, Finland's bedrock was formed 1,600-3,000 million years ago). If you are lucky, you can observe many forest birds and other animals from Kalliomaja. 

I am happy that we can offer different types of accommodation for families and couples as well as vacationers traveling alone. The surroundings of the cottages offer experiences in nature and the opportunity to relax in silence all year round. Or, depending on the situation, enjoy sledding, skiing, skating, hiking, fishing, rowing, paddling, picking berries, picking mushrooms, swimming in a clean lake and, of course, sauna.
